Extreme weather events like floods, droughts, heatwaves and wildfires, are intensifying, causing mass displacement, destroying healthcare facilities, and limiting access to essential health services. Women and girls in low- and middle-income countries face the greatest health risks despite contributing least to the crisis. An analysis of 130 peer-reviewed studies confirms this disparity: 68% found that women face greater health risks from climate change than men.
The evidence is clear, yet policies, research, and funding frequently overlook the gendered effects of climate change and the need to integrate climate resilience and adaptation measures into health initiatives.
While attention and investments at the intersection of climate, gender, and SRHR are on the rise, community-based organizations on the frontlines continue to lack coordinated funding and support. Investing in grassroots organizations has an outsized impact across affected communities, yet funding systems and processes are not typically designed for rapid, flexible giving—leaving those most affected by climate hazards to face enormous out-of-pocket expenses to cover basic health gaps and essential SRHR services.
The Climate x SRHR Collaborative at Panorama Global offers a solution: a way for funders to channel resources to local organizations in low- and middle-income countries—the regions most severely affected by climate change. This streamlined approach positions funders to advance climate-aware SRHR programs, build resilience in vulnerable communities, and engage with a dynamic donor community.
Through the Climate x SRHR Collaborative, Panorama Global connects the dots between climate resilience and women's health, identifying best practices to finance, measure, and scale climate-resilient SRHR solutions and gender-just climate solutions.
The Climate x SRHR Collaborative drives progress across two strategic areas: resourcing community-based organizations and fostering donor collaboration.
Community-based organizations in climate-affected regions are led by people who understand both the problems and solutions firsthand, yet their expertise is often overlooked in the funding ecosystem and global policy forums.
The Collaborative currently supports 11 NGOs advancing climate-gender-health initiatives across policy advocacy, research, and community programs at local and global levels through flexible, unrestricted grants. Travel fellowships complement these grants by enabling advocates from the Global Majority to shape discourse at key health, gender, and climate policy forums.
For funders—whether individual and institutional or bilateral and multilateral— the Climate x SRHR Collaborative provides access to Panorama Global’s trusted grantmaking infrastructure, vetted partner network, and deep expertise to directly support frontline organizations working at the nexus of climate and SRHR.
The Collaborative brings together visionary donors who see the vital connections between climate resilience, gender equity, and SRHR. As global recognition grows around these intersections, we create spaces for funders to deepen their understanding, share insights, and unlock opportunities for collaboration.
Through peer learning and engagement with experts, the donor community of practice explores smart gender investments in the context of climate change and aligns integrated funding and advocacy strategies to strengthen climate, gender, and SRHR policies. Together, donors are catalyzing global investment in equitable and resilient climate-health solutions that secure women's and girls’ sexual and reproductive health and rights.
